Majlis 58: "What does fulfilment of an oath truly mean?" - Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS
06 August 2021
Literally, fulfilling an oath is to follow through on a promise – to remain faithful and never betray one’s word, to follow through regardless of the hardships and consequences. This characteristic of being truthful to one’s word, wafadari, is highly regarded.
But what does fulfillment of an oath truly mean?
Allah Ta’ala declares in the Quran Majeed that “Allah never goes back on His pledge.” Allah will always fulfill His promise, especially on the Day of Judgement. But how is Allah fulfilling His promise to us today? What is the true meaning of this promise?
Allah Ta’ala also states in the Quran Majeed that He took the oath of His Prophets and Messengers. What oath did He take? How are they fulfilling it to this day?
In the Quran Majeed, Allah Ta’ala praises those believers who fulfill their oaths. How does a Mumin fulfill Allah’s oath? What is the guidance of our Awliya Kiraam to enable us to do so? What examples from our Awliya’s history can we learn and draw strength from?
Syedna TUS answers these questions in this Majlis, the 58th in the Majalis al Hikma series.
