The term ‘Urus’ we know refers to the day on which a Dai or one of the Hudood Fozola’ passed away. We commemorate the day by praying Quran and gifting the sawaab to the Dai or Mawla who passed away on that day (Khatmul Quran). Literally the word Urus (or Urs) in Arabic refers to a meal in celebration (even used for the celebration of marriage). But why is the day of wafaat referred to as Urs?
تَبَاشَرَتِ المَلاَئِكُ يومَ وَافَى * هُنَاكَ فَصَارَ يُسمَى اليومُ عُرْسَا
In his marsiya remembering the 47th Dai Syedna Abdul Qadir Najmuddin RA, Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA writes “There (in heaven) the angels celebrated (his arrival) on the day of his wafaat, it is for this reason that the day is called Urus.
On Syedna Taher Saifuddin’s Urus – Ayyamul Barakaatil Khuldiyya - the mala’ikat continue to celebrate, we continue to remember the blessings of Syedna al-Muqaddas RA, and continue to pray for his continued nazaraat upon us.
In a bayaan Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA said “Let me relate you a personal matter, my brothers, if death comes to me before the zuhoor of Imam-uz-zaman, I will go to the hazrat of Imam-uz-zaman, even then I will strive to alleviate your problems… do not forget me. My brothers, all my life I will endeavor for you, and when death comes, I am certain that my Mawla Imam-uz-zamn will be pleased with me. If any Mumin does araz through me, I will surely present his araz to my Mawla Imam-uz-zaman: O Mawla, I beseech you to alleviate his problems. A mumin is always in my heart, always remember, I am your true well-wisher, I am your father, my affection towards you is such that only God or my Imam knows…”
