Selections From Waaz 1 | "For Him is the True Dawat"
11 July 2024
This was a historic day in Dawat. The Dai of Haqq, Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS delivered a waaz which powerfully reaffirmed that Haqq is Haqq. Those who oppose it are on batil and false. Haqq, Aqa Maula said, is embodied from the beginning of this world and the first Imam, through the chain of succession, to today, and till the end of this world. This chain is manifest in ‘nass,’ the appointment of each Imam’s successor.
This nass is by divine command of Allah Ta’ala to the Prophet and the Imam, and through the Imam to the Dai, in the period of Imam’s seclusion or satr. The names of all those who are to be Imam, and Dai, are preordained and written in the Kitab-ul-‘Ilm.
For this reason, nass once done, cannot change.
Those who oppose us today claim in their own submissions in court, that nass can be changed. They agree that nass is by divine command, they agree that the names of the Imams and Dais are known and preordained the Kitab-ul-‘Ilm. However to justify their position they shamelessly argue that Allah Ta’ala lies, wal iyazo billah. They say that Allah misleads the people and commands the appointment of a person who He knows is not the successor.
They attribute lies to Allah Ta’ala, this is the extent they will go to prop up their falsehood.
Aqa Maula Syedna Taher Fakhruddin began the waaz and this Ashara with the zikr of mohabbat (love). Without mohabbat there is no jannat (Heaven). The Imam Ahmed al-Mastur AS says in the Rasail Ikhwan al-Safa, “Allah is the first beloved” (inallaha huwal ma’shuq al-awwal). What that means is that everyone aspires to ‘remain’ (baqa’), and for that they love Allah, in whose love alone, everlasting life can be attained.
The Quran commands “O believers, be Godfearing, and seek wasila (intercession) toward Him.” Seeking that wasila is the definition of belief in those who Allah Ta’ala has appointed as wasila to him, the Imam and his Dai. Belief or walayat of the Imam and his Dai is the obedience of the Imam and his Dai, as Syedna Qaazi al-Nu’man RA says. Love of the Imams and Dais, is therefore joined with the love of Allah Ta’ala. The Quran instructs Rasulullah SA: “Say: if you love Allah, then obey me, and Allah will love you”.
Aqa Maula recounted that Syedna Taher Saifuddin RA once confronted a community member who, behind Syedna’s back, had raised doubts in one of Syedna's actions. Syedna Taher Saifuddin said to him, that what I have done has been done by my predecessors also. You accept what Dais and Imams have done previously as true, correct and binding, then why do you not accept what I have done in the same manner?
Aqa Maula then recited the Quranic verse ‘Lahu Dawat al Haqq’, “For Him is the Dawat of truth”. The Imam and Dai are Haqq, the truth, and their enemies are the batil, falsehood.
As the Quran says, “Allah establishes the truth (haqq) by his kalemat (words)”. These kalemat refers to the Awliya of Allah, through whom Allah Taala speaks to mankind.
The first fasal refers to those who did Dawat in the first creation in the heavens. They were all created equal. One of them, by their own deduction, came to the conclusion that since we are all the same, and none of us has the power to create from nothing: I have a creator. That being became known as the Aql-e-Awwal, he became Haqq. The verse for Him is the Dawat of Haqq thus means that the Dawat of Aql-e-Awwal was toward Allah Ta’ala.
Aql-e-Awwal established the Dawat, to call all those created toward the tawheed of Allah Ta’ala, and the condition being that they must also acknowledge those who did tawheed before them. Those who did not acknowledge could not stay in that sublime world and therefore fell. When they fell this world was created for their salvation. The world was created over a long period. Today science offers some insights as to how the world came to exist. Our books which are eight hundred to one thousand years old outline this process in great detail.
The second fasal refers to our Awliya here who continue the same Dawat here on Earth. Adam al-Kulli was the first Imam, the Dawr al-Kashf was fifty thousand years, after which the Dawr al-Satr came when the first Natiq – Prophet Adam SA came, after him the other six Natiq-Prophets until Rasulullah SA.
The Panjetan and Imams in their progeny continued the Dawat of Haq, each being Haqq personified, as Rasulullah SA said to Ali SA, that you are Haqq, and that Ali is with Haqq and Haqq is with Ali. Syedna Taher Saifuddin said that it is because of these Imams, and their Dais, that the Haqqq and its knowledge is preserved as it should be, without distortion.
Aqa Maula TUS recounted Husain Imam SA’s journey to Karbala, and that at one point on the journey Husain Imam has a dream in which he hears, “you are travelling, and death is accompanying you towards Jannat.” He calls Imam Ali Zayn al-Abideen AS and recounts his dream. Imam Zayn al-Abideen asks the rhetorical question, “Are we not on Haqq, revered father?” Husain Imam says, “Indeed we are on Haqq.” Ali Zayn al-Abideen submits, “Then, we are not perturbed by death.”
Syedna Fakhruddin then said that death is a reality to which everyone has to face up. A mumin is not worried about death. A mumin should embrace death, as Syedna Muayyad said - embrace death before it arrives, so you are prepared for it. Syedna Fakhruddin said that death is necessary for everlasting life. In the Quran it says addressing Allah Ta’ala, “you made us alive twice, and you brought us death twice” referring to when we fell from Jannat, then we were born in this world, and when death came to us, we were born again in the hereafter to everlasting life. The secrets of the Quran the haqaiq is embedded within in and known to the Ahlul Bayt and their Dais.
Maulana Ali SA said that the affinity and comfort that I have with death is even more than which an infant child has while drinking its mother’s milk. Rasulullah SA said that Allah Ta’ala says, that he who wants someone to give them guidance, then death would suffice him as a guide.
Syedna Fakhruddin said that today people weigh the risk of anything they do, any business venture or anything else. In death, Syedna said, there is no risk. Death is a certainty, therefore the best reward is to embrace it and prepare for it by living life by the guidance of our Awliya.
Aqa Maula TUS bestowed pearls of invaluable doa to mumineen and then the Dai of Husain then prayed the noha of Muayyad, and narrated the events of Karbala with such fervour and pain that all eyes were filled with tears, and the Ivan resounded with the sound of Ya Husain.
“Today is the second of Moharram, you have gathered here in the majlis of Husain. I say this to all of you, those who mourn Husain, come with me, the servant and Dai of Husain, set your tents in Karbala and don garments of grief. Leave the world be, let your only concern be remembering Husain, Husain, Husain!” – Syedna Taher Fakhruddin TUS (Muharram 2nd, 1446H)
