A Selection of Sayings on Forbearance and Gratitude from “A Light in the Heavens”
الايمان نصفان نصف شكر ونصف صبر
“Faith has two halves: gratitude and forbearance”
On the auspicious occasion of Milad un Nabi, we are pleased begin this section featuring select hadith from Yaqutatu Da'watil Haqq Shehzadi Dr Bazat Tahera Baisaheba’s excellent edition and translation of Rasulullah’s SA Hadith compiled by the Fatimid jurist al-Qadi al-Quda’i “al-Shihab al-Nabawi”. The book “Light in the Heavens” follows Shehzadi Tahera Baisaheba’s publication of “Treasury of Virtues.” As Rabiul Awwal is also the month of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin’s RA Urus Mubarak, this selection of hadith is on sabr and shukr – forbearance and gratitude. Click here to read Ra'sul Hududil Mayameen Janab Syedi Aziz Bhaisaheb Qutbuddin's article in which he wrote, “As we approach Syedna Burhanuddin’s Urus Mubarak, it is the time for Shukur – remembrance of and gratitude for his countless ihsanaat and bounties— and it is also the time for Sabar – fortitude and forbearance.“
